*** THIS IS ON GOING WORK FOR
RESEARCH ***
This project is for research is on how to modify games
for education uses. This project is a proof of concept that maps can be
setup and compiled for easy modification. The goal of this project is
to prove that a user does not need to open an editor to modify a level.
This lowers the bar to entry for educational uses because users can be
given simple documentation explaining how to modify a script file and
add content such as sound and dialogue. Example uses of this project could
be applied to Literature and Theater Courses.
This Project leverages the Q3-Ubertools\Doom 3 method
of scripting of a script file seperate from a BSP/MAP file. A base file
is created with multuple path nodes, targets and cameras set up. They
are name using a specific naming convention and can be called and used
in script.
The Proof of Concept currently uses Heavy Metal - Fakk
2. The primary reason for this is because Fakk is using older Quake 3
technology. It thus will run on very lower end and older machines. This
is important because most acedemic lab and student machines are not capable
of supporting Doom 3.
A download of this Project and supporting documentation
will be available soon.
